Last month, Buffalo Business First published an article titled These ZIP codes had the biggest net losses in residents moving out in 2022. In the article (published behind a paywall for subscribers only), the local news outlet used USPS change of address data to examine the moving patterns of Western New Yorkers from January through October 2022.
In our opinion, the article casts an overly pessimistic shadow of the state of Buffalo, focusing on where residents are leaving. Even the title is negative! Instead, why not focus on the positive? There are many towns throughout Western New York that are experiencing positive growth. Yes, even many zipcodes within Buffalo city limits! In fact, many neighborhoods experienced growth in 2022, including Williamsville, Amherst, Lancaster, Clarence, Hamburg, Orchard Park, Akron, and more! And in the #1 spot? East Aurora!
